Samsung GALAXY S3 New Photo Gallery

Samsung GALAXY S3 New Photo Gallery

The “next Galaxy” smartphone has just been officially unveiled and there's already a lot of debate on the phone's design. Samsung Galaxy S3 has been “designed for humans” to mimic nature, hence the curved lines and the “pebble” form factor.

Although the device comes with a 4.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display, it fits perfectly in hand. However, there are some who already blame Samsung for adding such a large display, which they fear, makes the phone too big to carry.

Android 4.0 ICS Update for Samsung Galaxy S II – SaskTel

SaskTel Rolls Out Android 4.0 ICS Update for Samsung Galaxy S II
Although SaskTel announced about a week ago it expects the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S3 to be available in mid-May, the regional carrier received the update earlier than expected.

The information comes directly from SaskTel’s support site where the carrier notes that is working to obtain the hotly anticipated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform for several phones. In addition, the operator mentions that this update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Unfortunately, SaskTel customers who own other Android phones will be disappointed by the fact that the carrier confirmed it has not other details on the availability of the update for the rest of the devices in its portfolio.

SaskTel Galaxy S II owners can now upgrade their smartphone to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich via Samsung Kies desktop software. Make sure you have the latest version of Kies before attempting the update.

Samsung GALAXY S3 Gets Launched in India

Samsung GALAXY S3 Gets Launched in India in Early June for 705 USD (535 EUR)
It looks like Europeans won’t be the only ones to get the Galaxy S III next month. Samsung announced the availability of the smartphone in the UK starting May 30 and confirmed a US version would be launched later this summer.

However, the folks over at NDTV had been told by Samsung that India would be among the first countries to get its Galaxy S3 device soon after the European launch.

The third-generation Galaxy smartphone is said to make its way onto shelves in India in the first week of June. According to the latest hearsay, Samsung Galaxy S III will go to India for a suggested retail price of Rs 38,000 (705 USD or 535 EUR).

Still, there’s a high chance that the Galaxy S3 might be released in India for around Rs 34,000 (635 USD or 485 EUR), which is about Rs 2,000 (35 USD or 30 EUR) lower than HTC One X.

There might be some price changes until the Galaxy S III goes live at multiple leading retailers across the country.

Given the fact that we don’t have an official statement from Samsung that should confirm the upcoming availability of the Galaxy S III in India, it’s hard to say for certain exactly when it becomes available.

Furthermore, we suspect that only the 16GB model will be available for purchase in the first week of June, but the 32GB variant might be introduced in India as well sometime later this year.

On a side note, Samsung also confirmed that a 64GB Galaxy S3 model would be launched on the market, though no time frame has been provided to this premium device.

Android enthusiasts living in India should stay tuned for the latest info on the Samsung Galaxy S3 launch in the country.

Samsung GALAXY S3 Screen Protector Supposedly Confirms 4.8’’ Display

Samsung GALAXY S3 Screen Protector Supposedly Confirms 4.8’’ Display

Tomorrow, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics will make official the next generation Galaxy smartphone, supposedly called Galaxy S3.

The company hasn’t offered official confirmation on what the device would feature in terms of hardware, but a recent leak is meant to offer weight to suppositions regarding a 4.8-inch touchscreen display on device’s front.

Colorant, a screen protector film manufacturer, came up with a USG (Ultimate Screen Guard) screen protector for the device, and its size fits previous rumors regarding the panel’s measures.

In the photos attached to this post, courtesy of Unwire, you can see the screen protector sized up against Galaxy S II, so as to make an idea of how large the successor of this device would be.

All the necessary details on Galaxy S3 and its release will be unveiled to the world on May 3rd, so stay tuned for more on the matter.

Samsung's Bada Platform Has Only 1 Year Left to Live – Report

Samsung's Bada Platform Has Only 1 Year Left to Live – Report

Samsung’s bada platform for smartphones is still strong on the market. Unfortunately, while the growth of the platform was great since its launch, it wasn’t as impressive as Android.

Eldar Murtazin thinks that Samsung is tempted to cut short any further development of bada smartphones. Moreover, the Murtazin claims that Samsung won’t openly recognize it doesn’t plan to release any other bada devices in the future.

Instead Samsung will continue to support bada end users and devs until the platform degrades itself and finally reaches “end of life” status, which is estimated for next year. Obviously, all resources will be gradually reassigned to other projects.

Given the fact that we don’t have anything reliable on this yet, these speculations are to be taken with a grain of salt, at least until we get more evidence. Check out Murtazin’s huge article here (translated).

New Samsung Galaxy S3 Pictures Confirm Android 4.0.4 ICS Onboard

New Samsung Galaxy S3 Pictures Confirm Android 4.0.4 ICS Onboard

With only a day until the big “Galaxy moment” where Samsung plans to unveil its next-generation Android smartphone, we continue to be teased with new alleged photos of the mysterious device.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Pictures Confirm Android 4.0.4 ICS

Although rumor has it that Samsung will announce more than one device at the launch event, which is set to take place tomorrow, the highlight is surely the long-awaited Galaxy S3 device.

The new pictures published by the guys over at SamMobile confirm that the smartphone will run the latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and that the phone’s codename is indeed Samsung GT-I9300.

According to SamMobile, along with the images of the alleged Galaxy S3, also came several details on the phone’s specs sheet.

Unlike other dummy units that were pictured in the wild in the past couple of weeks, this one is said to boast a 12-megapixel rear camera. There’s also a notification LED that is pretty obvious in the picture as well.

The source of these shots claim that the device, which might as well be another dummy unit, is thinner that the Samsung Galaxy S II, which also comes in line with previous rumors on the phone’s specs.

Furthermore, the smartphone has been pictured in Brazil, which leads us to believe this is in fact the same device revealed by the folks over at Gizmodo about two weeks ago.

There’s more to it as SamMobile’s anonymous source claims Samsung plans to unveil more than one device tomorrow and mentions a certain GT-I9800. We’ve never heard anything about this device, which might be another variant of the Galaxy S3, or a completely new device.

Given the fact that the GT-I9800 codename is too far apart from the already known GT-I9300 (Galaxy S 3), it’s likely that the former is a brand new device. Still, anything is possible, so it won’t come as a surprise if the GT-I9800 is the US variant of the Galaxy S3.

The popular Galaxy S smartphone and Galaxy Tab slate are among these devices that will never receive an official Ice Cream Sandwich update.

However, Samsung plans to release a so-called “Value Pack” update that offers customers who purchased these Galaxy devices a glimpse to what Android 4.0 ICS means.

The South Korean company already released said update for Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy W, Galaxy M Style and Galaxy Tab.

Even though the update was only available in some regions, it will soon be rolled out globally. Today, Samsung officially announced the immediate availability of the “Value Pack” upgrade for Galaxy S Hoppin.

The update can be downloaded via Samsung Kies desktop software and brings new features such as Face Unlock, the ability to create new folders and to shot pictures while recording videos.

Android 4.0 ICS for Samsung GALAXY S II (I9100G) Now Available in Some Regions

Android 4.0 ICS for Samsung GALAXY S II (I9100G) Now Available in Some Regions

Samsung is still struggling to push the long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich update for some of the less popular Galaxy family smartphones.

Samsung GALAXY S II (I9100G)
Image Credits: Samsung GALAXY S II (I9100G)

Given the fact that it took the South Korean company more than several months to release the Android 4.0 update for Galaxy S II devices, it won’t come as a surprise if the rest of the Galaxy devices that were promised the same updated won’t be getting it until later this year.

However, it appears that this will not be the case for the Galaxy S II (I9100G), which is a different variant of the standard Galaxy S II (I9100). In fact, the only difference between the two smartphones is the processor.

While the Galaxy S II (I9100) is equipped with a dual-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, the Galaxy S II (I9100G) packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 CPU, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit.

Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100G) was launched on the market with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread out of the box. Up until recently, it was unclear whether this version of Galaxy S II could receive an Ice Cream Sandwich.

Fortunately, Android 4.0 ICS is now available for download in some regions. According to the folks over at GSMArena the update is now slowly rolled out globally, so more countries might get it in the following weeks.

Currently, there have been reports on the availability of the update coming from Pakistan and Australia. Keep in mind that Android 4.0 ICS for Galaxy S II (I9100G) is only available via Samsung Kies desktop software.

Galaxy S II (I9100G) owners who did not receive the update yet might want to wait a few more days until Samsung deploys it in additional countries.

Those who already upgraded their smartphone might want to leave their comments, along with their location.

Samsung and Apple to Settle Squabble on May 21/22

Samsung and Apple to Settle Squabble on May 21/22
After months and months of almost constant tensions, and several clashes in court, Samsung and Apple have finally chosen when they will meet and try to bury the metaphorical hatchet, officially anyway.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

That Apple and Samsung have decided to try and stop their ongoing fights is something we learned about earlier this month.

Now, though, we finally have an actual date and place for when and where the momentous event is to take place: May 21/22, 2012, in San Francisco, California.

The Chief Executive Officers of both companies and the general counsel will discuss the matter, while Magistrate Judge Joseph Spero presides over the gathering.

We should probably try to summarize the history of this whole debacle.

Apple and Samsung used to be quite at peace with each other, until the latter released the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Almost immediately, the former cried foul, saying that it was an iPad rip-off, and scored a quick victory in Australia, banning it.

The decision was eventually overturned, but not before Apple filed similar patent infringement claims in other parts of the world. Meanwhile, Samsung initiated some lawsuits of its own, related to 3G patents for the most part.

We kept up with the different courtroom sagas as best we could, presenting both Samsung's and Apple's points of view, for all the good it did.

In the end, nothing really came of anything either of them did, so they had to choose between spending or not spending money on lawsuits that will probably complete long after the products fought over disappear from the market.

Keep in mind, though, that while talks are definitely set for next month, there is no guarantee that anything will come of them. We, of course, hope for a resolution, but all the accusations thrown around up to now have left a mark that isn't likely to disappear any time soon.

Samsung’s First Windows Phone 8 to Sport Galaxy S3 Hardware

Rumor has it that the vendor plans on releasing Windows Phone 8 devices soon, maybe before the end of this year, and that it could use Galaxy S3’s hardware as the basis for these.

No official confirmation on the matter has emerged thus far, but a recent article on wp-life claims that the info comes from a source familiar with Samsung’s plans.

The first Windows Phone 8 device from Samsung could arrive as Samsung Focus S II, and should be a high-end successor for the original Focus S.

With Windows Phone 8, Microsoft reportedly made dramatic changes to its mobile platform, designing it to fit more powerful hardware than before.

Thus, Samsung will be able to use Galaxy S3’s hardware to build Windows Phones that will deliver performance similar with that of high-end Android devices.

The rumored specs list of Focus S II includes a 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, complemented by either a dual-core or a quad-core application processor, depending on the market on which the phone will be released.

Additionally, the device will pack a 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, complemented by a 2MP camera on the front, for video calling.

Other features of the device would include NFC capabilities, support for LTE connectivity, a dedicated camera button, better Photo Studio, and Samsung Cloud Support.

The smartphone would reportedly feature a similar design with the one available on Galaxy S III, though the Windows Phone logo and buttons would feature a different layout.

Three of the largest wireless carriers in the United States should receive the device, namely AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. T-Mobile might launch it as well, but no plans on the matter have been confirmed until now.

Windows Phone 8 was long rumored to be an impressive update to the current Windows Phone flavor. It should prove highly popular, especially if loaded on such hardware.

Alleged Galaxy S3 leaked photo

The info arrives via a leaked image with what appears to be the final design of Samsung’s new flagship device, but no official confirmation on this is yet available.

According to the photo that an “anonymous tipster” sent to Know Your Mobile, the smartphone will sport a 130mm body, while its screen will be 4.8 inches in size.

Previously leaked images with the phone suggested that it won’t sport hardware buttons on the front, the same as on Galaxy Nexus.

In fact, the handset itself appears to resemble the latest Google phone out there, powered by the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The leading mobile phone maker is determined to make the new device official as soon as next week, during an Unpacked event set for May 3rd.

As the announcement date approaches, more and more details on what the phone could sport started to emerge.

Thus, we can expect Samsung’s Galaxy S3 to feature a 1.5GHz quad-core application processor in addition to the said 4.8-inch Super AMOLED MIPI display, along with support for HSPA+ 21Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps.

Moreover, the device should sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with autofocus and LED flash, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution.

Specific info on this handset will be released in the next few days, so stay tuned to learn more on what Samsung decided to pack it with.

In the meantime, however, have a look at the aforementioned leaked image with the device to make an idea of what it might look like, but take it with a grain of salt until the official unveiling is made.

New GALAXY S3 Pictured, the Final Design?

New “Dummy” GALAXY S3 Pictured, It Looks Closer to the Final Design
Rumors on the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 continue to spice up our lives almost every day.

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S3 - New “Dummy” GALAXY S III Pictured, It Looks Closer to the Final Design

Aside from the numerous leaks on the phone’s specs sheet, there’s also quite an impressive gallery of alleged Galaxy S III that’s been fueled by “trusted source.”

However, it appears that Samsung is safeguarding the design of its “next Galaxy” smartphone fiercely as the company has been reportedly using generic boxes for testing purposes, in order to keep the final design of its flagship device secret.

Although we already know that all photos that have been lately leaked online are simply showing some of these test sample units, which have nothing to do with the final version of the Galaxy S III, at least we get to learn the phone’s specs sheet and its capabilities.

We’ve already seen a couple of Galaxy S III variants, so bear with us for one more photo of the alleged “next Galaxy” smartphone, which is set to be unveiled on May 3, in London.

The guys over at PhoneArena recently received an image from one of their tipsters who claims this is the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III.

Unlike any of the previous photos, this one seems to be in line with the sketch spotted in the official manual leaked yesterday.

The purported Galaxy S III device shown in this photo features a physical home button and two capacitive touchscreen keys.

The home button is a hot subject for Samsung fans as some of them would prefer that the company launches a Galaxy S III with only on-screen button, while others would like to see the phone featuring a physical button.

Even though there’s no telling exactly what the Galaxy S III will look like, the device in the latest photo might seem awfully close to the final design.
