TeamViewer 7.0.12799 for Mac, Linux, Windows

Download TeamViewer 7.0.12799 for Mac, Linux, Windows

Remotely control or access another computer over the internet - or even hold big web meetings
TeamViewer 7 is the latest version of the popular remote access/control program.

TeamViewer 7.0.12799 for Mac, Linux, Windows

As with previous editions, you can use it to access your own computer across the internet, perhaps very valuable if you've accidentally left some important document at home. Or you can use it to remotely control another PC where TeamViewer is also installed; so if a friend's having technical troubles, you can log on to their system, even through most firewalls, and use the computer as though you were sitting in front of it, to quickly help them out.

This release adds many essential new capabilities in this area. It now allows you to save advanced connection settings for every PC you'd like to access or control, for instance, so you can start working right away. Transferring files between systems is now as easy as dragging and dropping. Multi-monitor support allows you to have different remote connection sessions running in each of your monitors, and it's now possible to record your sessions, both in the form of screenshots or AVI videos.

This alone would be enough for the program to qualify as a major upgrade - but there's much more. In particular, TeamViewer 7 now allows you to schedule and conduct online meetings for up to 25 people. You can schedule your event as an Outlook Meeting invitation. Participants can join from smartphones, tablets or computers, and once they've arrived will share a single screen, able to watch whatever you're doing, contribute via chat, use the white board and share files.

It's a very impressive upgrade, especially as the program remains entirely free for personal and non-commercial use. Business users, however, will need to purchase a licence. Note that the Linux version is still v6.x.

Note:
TeamViewer has always been an easy way to remotely access and control other systems, and the new web meeting features in particular make it even more useful. Recommended.

Download Audacity 2.0 for Linux, Mac, Windows

Simply the best free audio recording, editing and mixing tool
Audacity 2.0 makes image recording, mixing and editing a simple affair.
Download Audacity 2.0 FINAL

Gone are the days when you’d have to pay a pretty penny for a decent sound editing and mixing application. For the best part of a decade, Audacity has carved a niche for itself as a powerful, yet usable tool for sound editing. It’s capable of recording live audio, digitising your old vinyl and cassette collection, editing a wide range of audio formats (including Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, WAV and MP3).

The interface also makes it easy to cut, copy, splice and mix sounds together, alter a recording’s speech or pitch, plus apply various filters to cut out distortion or introduce special effects. In fact, Audacity is so versatile, you’ll often find it bundled with hardware devices such as ION’s range of turntables.

For a number of years Audacity has been available in two separate versions: an elderly, stable 1.2.6 release that doesn’t work on newer versions of OS X and Windows, and a long-running beta series that reached version 1.3.14 before it finally morphed into this, Audacity 2.0, more than six years after it first appeared.
That’s right, Audacity 2.0 is little more than a stable version of the long-running beta That means if you’re currently running the latest version of the beta you won’t see anything radically different from what you’ve been used to by upgrading to version 2.0. However, it’s worth upgrading to for one critical reason: it’s an official, stable release.

If you’ve religiously stuck with version 1.2.6, or are running an older 1.3.x beta build, then you’ll find there are plenty of reasons to update, from interface tweaks like improved toolbar docking, the ability to have multiple clips per track (while collapsing or expanding tracks in the workspace), repair and equalization effects, timer recording, improved drag and drop, plus project saving and recovery.

New Features in Audacity 2.0:

Some of the major changes in 2.0.0 over 1.2.6 are:

* Many effects significantly improved, especially Equalization, Noise Removal and Normalize. Vocal Remover now included plus GVerb on Windows and Mac. VAMP analysis plug-ins now supported.
* Improved label tracks with Sync-Lock Tracks feature in the Tracks Menu. Multiple clips per track. Tracks and selections can be fully manipulated using the keyboard. Many more keyboard shortcuts.
* New Device Toolbar to manage inputs and outputs. Timer Record feature. New Mixer Board view with per-track VU meters.
* Automatic Crash Recovery in the event of abnormal program termination.
* Fast "On-Demand" import of WAV/AIFF files if read directly from source. FLAC now fully supported. Added support for optional FFmpeg library for import/export of AC3/M4A/WMA and import of audio from video files.

Note: while Audacity can import MP3 files, you will need to download and install the LAME MP3 Encoder plug-in if you wish to export your recordings in MP3 format.

Verdict:
An essential download for those looking for a powerful audio recording, editing and mixing tool.

Download latest update Orbit Downloader

One of the best download managers enables you to manage your file transfers more effectively.

To help speed up and manage your downloads, you need a download manager and there are few better than Orbit Downloader. On a basic level, this replaces the download manager that ships with your browser and enables you to control where you save your files, to download again if the transfer fails and much more. It works with all the popular web browsers, so you can use the same download manager whether you need to switch between Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Orbit Downloader makes downloading much faster as it’s able to source files from other locations, including P2P servers and many others. Note, however, that we do not recommend you downloading files from unknown servers - this is the primary reason for the spread of malicious software.

Orbit Downloader does a lot more than help you download files from the Internet. It also enables you to grab embedded audio, video and other media files and even save streaming media to your hard drive.
Build 4.1.0.5 brings these changes:
- Fix: "Use server date/time" not working
- Fix: Crash in software updater

Unity and UI Changes

Ubuntu Unity experience is improving day by day and in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin special attempts has been made to make Unity more useful for end users. Unity and LightDM now have multi monitor support, Unity launcher is present on every display which avoids the frustration of switching between displays to reach Unity launcher. HUD

A new feature introduced in beta 1 is the Head-Up Display or HUD which is used to search the menus of a focused window or whole application. HUD can be accessed by tapping ALT button. HUD doesn’t replace global menu, it is extra addon and can only be accessed through tapping ALT key.

Default Applications

Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin uses Linux Kernal 3.2.0-17.27 which is based upon 3.2.6 upstream stable kernal and XOrg server 1.11.4

Social Media Harder to Quit Than Alcohol, Tobacco

Social Media Harder to Quit Than Alcohol, Tobacco
Scientists demonstrated in a new study that technology- and goal-driven activities and objectives are far harder to quit or turn down than smoking or drinking. Personally, I think this speaks volumes about how the human mind chooses to catalog its priorities.

Social Media Harder to Quit Than Alcohol, Tobacco

For instance, University of Chicago professor Wilheml Hofmann, PhD, says that people find it more difficult to separate from their jobs, Facebook or Twitter accounts, or from chatting with friends than to renounce either alcohol or cigarettes entirely, PsychCentral reports.

“Desires for media like watching television, surfing the Internet, using your iPhone, and our desire to work – that is, the intrinsic desire to get your work done – these are the hardest to resist,” Hofmann explains. I think that this study may have just highlighted a new way to treat alcoholism and cigarette dependency.

Installing themes on ubuntu 11.10 (Tutorial)

The complexity of the issues in Gnome GTK 3 makes it a little confusing to add desktop themes in Ubuntu 11.10. This is because there is no default tool of Ubuntu 11.10 to change themes. However, you can change and manage the issues of Gnome in Ubuntu 11.10 with the help of a third party application known as the Gnome Tweak Tool. In this post, we'll tell you how to install and manage themes for Gnome 3 on Oneiric Ocelot.

To get started, install Gnome Tweak Tool

Gnome Tweak Tool can be installed using the following command:

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

Other than using the command line, you can also grab the Gnome Tweak tool package for Oneiric from Launchpad.

Download Gnome Tweak Tool

Go to the Home directory, hit CTRL+H hotkey to show hidden files and folders, and create a new folder named .Themes via right-click context menu.

Now, open the Gnome Tweak Tool from Applications -> Other -> Advanced Settings. Go to Themes

Download Android 4.0 ICS for HTC Rezound

Official Android 4.0 ICS for HTC Rezound Now Available for Download
Motorola was the first to deliver the update for its Wi-Fi only Motorola XOOM, but the upgrade is available for an extremely limited number of users.

Samsung has recently started to roll out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II, but delayed the upgrade for the Galaxy Note for Q2.

There's a high chance that the second company to announce the availability of update will be HTC. The folks over at Android Police have just got their hands on an official Android 4.0 (build 3.11.605.22) ROM for the HTC Rezound.

Although this is a release candidate for the OTA (over the air), there's no telling is it's indeed the final version of the update.

Aside from the leaked ICS ROM, AndroidPolice got their hands on the official changelog as well. It appears that this update brings the following changes:

- Android OS 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich;
- CMAS support added;
- IPv6 over eHRPD supported;
- Update to HTC Sense 3.6 UI;
- Caller Name ID app added;
- VMM/BUA plus updated;
- New storage UI (under settings menu).

Lots of issues have been resolved as well, including Hotspot data stalls, Google Talk app formatting, Wrong time displayed in and around Phoenix, AZ, and others.

Keep in mind that there are two versions of the update available for download, a stock Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich that will break root, and a pre-rooted version that keeps the root.

The file needs to be renamed to PH98IMG.zip and placed onto the root of the SD card. To flash the ROM simply reboot into the bootloader by holding Volume down and Power buttons.

For more details on how to download and install the official Android 4.0 ICS ROM for HTC Rezound, head over to AndroidPolice original post.

New Samsung Galaxy S III Concept Phone Emerges

New Samsung Galaxy S III Concept Phone Emerges
New smartphone with new amazing features

Soon, mobile phone users around the world will be able to purchase a new flagship Android device coming from Samsung.

Supposedly called Galaxy S III, the new device will be released as the successor of last year’s Galaxy S II smartphone, and should pack top-of-the-line technology inside.

Nothing has been made official on the new device as of yet, but Samsung is expected to make it official in the very near future, maybe before the end of this month.

Although unofficial, some specs on Galaxy S III have already made it to the web, and enthusiasts have found them inspiring.

Thus, concept devices based on these leaked hardware specs have emerged, also complemented by the vision of their designers.

One new such handset has been spotted over at concept-phones (it comes from designer Hafizoff), with a rather unusual, edge-to-edge screen that makes it look even better than we might have imagined it before.

The concept device, which can be seen in the photo to the left, sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 720p resolution, and packs three 3 capacitive buttons below the screen.

Moreover, the handset features a quad-core Exynos application processor inside, along with an internal memory that ranges from 16GB to as much as 64GB.

The specifications list of this device also includes 1GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity capabilities, support for LTE networks, and NFC functionality, in addition to a built-in GPS receiver.

On the back, this Galaxy S III concept device features a 12 megapixel photo snapper, as well as a ceramic case, as can be seen in the aforementioned image.

Many of the features included in this concept smartphone might easily make it to the real device, which is supposedly slated for launch in the coming weeks. However, we should expect for an official announcement on the matter to be made to learn specifics on it.

Download OS X 10.7.4 Lion Build 11E27 - Developer News

Download OS X 10.7.4 Lion Build 11E27 - Developer News

After handing testers a new developer preview of Mountain Lion, this weekend Apple seeded a new build of OS X 10.7.4, an unreleased version of its current operating system - Lion.

Unlike the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion developer preview, which requires code redemption via the Mac App Store, OS X 10.7.4 Lion can be downloaded from the Mac Dev Center, on Apple’s web site.

Provided that you are enrolled with the company’s $99-a-year developer program, you can head over there and download the 580 MB delta update (build number 11E27) immediately. As a combo, the new Lion reportedly weighs in at 1.33 GB.

The seed notes are currently unavailable, therefore we have no information regarding the areas Apple is focusing on, the known issues (if any), and any potential fixes this new build might include.

According to people familiar with the software, a server version has been offered to developers as well.

Earlier this week, a report emerged in the Apple blogosphere saying that the Cupertino computer giant was gearing up to hand testers new builds of the Lion operating system.

The news could have easily been a simple guess on behalf of AppleInsider - the source of the rumor.

Anyone following Apple in the news is well aware that soon after an update is released to the public, beta testing is scheduled to commence on the next incremental version. Nonetheless, the report seems to have been accurate.

It said that Apple was preparing to roll out a pre-release build of OS X 10.7.4 that would initially reach only a limited number of developers.

Per the report, Apple should now be widening the release to all members of the Apple Developer Connection. It is believed that OS X 10.7.4 will be the last maintenance update to Lion ahead of the Mountain Lion debut this summer.

In related news, Apple last week mistakenly posted a reference to the unreleased OS X 10.7.4 on its iPhoto marketing pages on Apple.com - particularly on the company's Australian site. The company run by Tim Cook has yet to correct the erroneous text.

The second developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion is available for download on the Mac App Store, Apple has informed those enrolled with its annual developer programs.

As usual, developers must get a redemption code from the Mac OS X Development Portal to be able to download the new OS X Mountain Lion preview.

The build number is 12A154q, and there are no release notes available at the time of this writing. However, early testers have been able to spot a few changes already.

For example, the updated developer preview brings Twitter integration with Notification Center. Both Twitter and Notification Center are iPhone and iPad features stemming from iOS 5, the latest major version of Apple’s mobile operating system.

The Mac maker has vocally expressed its intentions to unify the Apple ecosystem by fusing OS X and iOS together using their key features.

According to 9to5mac, testers now have the ability to receive Twitter for Mac notifications which arrive for @replies and direct messages. The updates are displayed as banners in Notification Center.

Next up, developers have noticed that Safari now shows an iCloud icon next to Share Sheets - another Mountain Lion features.

As you’d expect, the new iCloud integration with Safari allows you to keep open Safari tabs in sync across all your devices that use Apple’s web browser. As long as you’re logged in to your iCloud account, your open tabs are there on all your iDevices, Mac and / or PC.

Mountain Lion now warns users when an application wants to access their Contacts (formerly known as Address Book). The change is obviously an answer to the bad press stemming from the Path contacts issue which spurred investigations into other apps that collected personal information without the user’s consent.

Android 4.0 ICS for Samsung GALAXY Note Postponed for Q2 2012

Android 4.0 ICS for Samsung GALAXY Note Postponed for Q2 2012

Samsung has recently started to deploy the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II. The company also promised to offer the upgrade for other Galaxy devices, such as Galaxy Note, Galaxy SII LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

However, Samsung only stated that the update for the devices above will follow suite without giving any further details or specific time frames.

The bad news is that at least one of these devices won’t receive the update earlier than the second quarter of 2012. According to Samsung Norway, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Note will arrive in Q2 2012.

The folks over at SammyHub have just learned that the Norwegian branch of the South-Korean company confirmed the information on its official Facebook account here.

It’s unclear why Samsung decided to push the update for Galaxy Note of the next quarter, after it has initially confirmed the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note will receive the update in the first quarter of the year.

Unfortunately, the company was only half true to its promise and deployed the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the Galaxy S II this week. Still, for the time being, the update is only available for unlocked units.

Rumor had it that the Galaxy Note might be the first to get the Android 4.0 update even ahead of the popular Galaxy S II, but for unknown reasons Samsung decided otherwise.

There’s no telling when exactly the update is pushed to Galaxy Note devices, but we’re just nearing the beginning of Q2, so users might have to wait for a while.

Hopefully, Samsung will come forward with a more specific Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich timetable for the rest of its Galaxy family devices. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

Why Our Minds Wander at Times

Why Our Minds Wander at Times
I recently came across a study arguing that the part of the brain underlying working memory plays a significant role in behaviors such as day-dreaming. In other words, our minds wander when the full computational power of the brain is not fully needed for the completion of a task.

Our minds wander when the brain is not fully used to handle a current task
As such, it makes sense that many employees who have mentally-boring or repetitive jobs spend most of their days day-dreaming. It also stands to reason that working memory is involved in this behavior, since it has been linked to people's IQ scores and reading comprehension.

One of the most important tasks the working memory is entrusted with is juggling multiple thoughts simultaneously. In electronic devices, this is called multi-tasking, or running several mental processes in parallel. This type of memory also enables us to recall data from all these processes instantly.

“What this study seems to suggest is that, when circumstances for the task aren’t very difficult, people who have additional working memory resources deploy them to think about things other than what they’re doing,” PsychCentral quotes researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as saying.

Androif Ice Cream Sandwich Arrives on Nexus S in the Next Weeks

Android Ice Cream Sandwich Arrives on Nexus S in the Next Weeks
The owners of a Samsung Nexus S smartphone will be able to enjoy an update to the latest flavor of Google’s mobile operating system, namely Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

According to the latest rumors on the web, the smartphone will get a taste of the new OS iteration in the coming weeks.

Both Nexus S and Nexus S 4G devices will receive the update, apparently. While no specific release date has been made official as of yet, it should not be too long before details on the matter appear.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Google did start to offer the update to Nexus S users in December last year, but that it halted the delivery soon after, due to various issues that caused devices to crash and brick in some cases.

@i0n1c: iPad 3 Jailbreak Unlikely to Happen Today

@i0n1c: iPad 3 Jailbreak Unlikely to Happen Today

Although Stefan Esser was hoping to have the new iPad today so he could tinker with it over the weekend, the German hacker is said to inform his Twitter followers that they will have to wait for next week to see it jailbroken.

“It is unlikely that I will jailbreak an iPad3 today,” reads a tweet from the hacking guru. “@hermesde will fail to deliver the device to the office while someone is there,” he said just minutes ago.

Esser had previously complained that Apple choosing Hermes to deliver his new iPad was not the best idea. It seems he was right.

In the meanwhile, the @-mentioned Hermes replied: “@i0n1c can we help you?” For all the Apple fanboys’ sake out there, let’s hope they can.

iPad 3 Jailbreak Progress: "Three Angles"

iPad 3 Jailbreak Progress: "Three Angles"

In a natural approach, the Dev Team continues to refer to the new iPad as “iPad 3” (mostly not to mess up the workflow whenever there’s an update to post on their popular blog).

The Team says, “We suspect many of you are lined up at this very minute, and so it’s a good time to give you some info for maximizing your chance to eventually jailbreak the iPad3.”

The exploits used to jailbreak the iPad 2 a few months ago still work in iOS 5.1, which means “we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3,” says the Team.

They point out to @i0n1c’s progress on the A5 front

“As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above,” says the team of hackers. “That would be great news! We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.”

“That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak!” reads their update. “As always, keep in mind this is very preliminary progress, and it’s impossible to predict how or when these things turn out.”

As usual, the code tinkerers stress the golden rule of keeping those update itchy fingers away from iTunes (or the OTA Software Update mechanism in iOS):

“Don’t update your new iPad3 past whatever iOS it comes shipped with,” reads the warning.

The Team believes that some iPad 3 units will arrive with “an iOS version that’s not quite 5.1.” We don’t know exactly what they mean by that, but it appears they want people to report their firmware builds to assess the situation.

Download Debian 5.0.10 Lenny

Debian 5.0.10 is the last update to the Debian 5.0 (Lenny) Linux distribution, which reached end-of-life on February 6th, 2012.

This release brings together all the corrections for security problems found in the previous versions of the Debian Lenny operating system, and published separately.

"The Debian project is pleased to announce the tenth and final update of its oldstable distribution Debian 5.0 (codename `lenny')."

"This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the oldstable release,
along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available.
" - was stated in the official release announcement.

The Linux kernel package included in Debian 5.0.10 has been updated to include fixes for various security issues. Therefore, the Debian installer has also been rebuilt to use the new Linux kernel.

However, Debian 5.0.10 does not contain the ia64 and alpha packages from DSA 1769 because of some technical reasons.

The following packages were updated in this release: apr, base-files, ia32-libs, libdigest-perl, linux-2.6, phppgadmin, postgresql-8.3, typo3-src, xapian-omega, xpdf, and user-mode-linux.

Last but not least, the qcad and partlibary packages were removed from this release as they were non-distributable.

Keep in mind that Debian 5.0.10 (Lenny) is the last update to the Debian 5.0 series and no other updates will be released for this distribution, as it already reached end-of-life (EOL) on February 6th, 2012.

"Please note that the security support for the oldstable distribution ended in February 2012 and no updates have been released since that point. http://www.debian.org/News/2012/20120209"

Android 4.0.3 ICS for HTC Vivid Now Pushed OTA, Requires Dialer Trick

Android 4.0.3 ICS for HTC Vivid Now Pushed OTA, Requires Dialer Trick
With HTC Velocity 4G already receiving the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in Australia, it’s just a matter of days before the Taiwanese company pushes the update for other smartphones.

The main candidate for the second HTC smartphone to get the Android 4.0 update seems to be AT&T’s HTC Vivid. Several owners have already reported they have successfully downloaded and installed an ICS update.

The folks over at AndroidCentral report that AT&T customers who own the HTC Vivid can now get the Android 4.0.3 ICS update, if they force the push by dialing *#*#682#*#*.

Although not everyone has been able to upgrade their HTC Vivid devices to Android 4.0.3, it appears that a fair number of users confirmed the update is go. It is also worth mentioning this will update the smartphone’s HTC Sense UI to version 3.6 rather than 4.0.

Head over to the original thread for more details on Android 4.0.3 ICS update for HTC Vivid.
