Goodbye Ubuntu 10.10 - Welcome the next generation of Ubuntu
Kate Stewart announced on the International Women's Day that thr Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) operating system reaches EOL (End of Life) on April 10th, 2012.
Ubuntu 10.10 was released 18 months ago, on October 10th, 2010 and it brought features like GNOME 2.32, Linux kernel 2.6.35.3, Nouveau video driver, a totally revamped installer, the Ubuntu font, Ubuntu One for Android and iPhone, OneConf, revamped Ubuntu Software Center, and much more.
Unfortunately, on April 10th, 2012, Canonical will stop supporting the Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) operating system.
"The supported upgrade path from Ubuntu 10.10 is via Ubuntu 11.04. Instructions and caveats for the upgrade may be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NattyUpgrades." - said Kate Stewart in the announcement.
Existing Ubuntu 10.10 users are urged to upgrade as soon as possible to Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal), and then to a newer version, such as Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot).
