Apple’s professional photography editing software, Aperture, is being updated to version 3.1.3 this week to fix general compatibility, as well as to improve performance and stability.
According to the technology giant behind Mac OS X, Aperture 3.1.3 “supports general compatibility issues, and also addresses overall stability and performance.”
The update addresses what Apple calls “minor issues,” though the changelog lists a lot of them.
Aperture 3.1.3 improves reliability and performance when syncing web-published albums.
Slideshow exports are now handled as a background operation and the crop tool now correctly supports use of gestures to define crop size.
Thanks to the new update, gesture support can now be enabled or disabled in Preferences.
An issue that could cause a blank sheet to display when placing a book or print order is now fixed, as is the issue that could cause Aperture to quit unexpectedly when trimming audio in full screen mode.
Apple outlines for avid users of its photography solution that published MobileMe, Facebook and Flickr albums now appear in a Web section in the Projects Inspector.
Also changed is Shift-clicking snapshots on the Faces corkboard. This now allows you to make contiguous selections.
This new incremental release of Aperture also addresses reliability of library repair and rebuild, and resolves various issues when adding names to Faces using accented, Japanese, Korean or Simplified Chinese characters.
Stability when browsing video clips is improved as well.
Cupertino recommends the update to all users of Aperture 3. There are tons more tweaks and changes in this release, which is why Apple has posted a separate Support document dedicated to Aperture 3.1.3. You can find it here.
Aperture 3 requires Mac OS X v10.5.8 or v10.6.2 or later, 1GB of RAM for desktop computers or 2GB of RAM for Mac Pros. An Intel Core 2 Duo processor is also required
