XFX Launches Its Own Core i7-Supporting Mobo

It looks like XFX, one of NVIDIA's largest board partners, has finally decided to officially roll out its first Core i7-supporting X58 motherboard. As it was to be expected, the company has designed its board to support NVIDIA's high-performance triple-SLI technology, which allows PC users and technology enthusiasts to connect up to three GeForce graphics card in a single desktop PC system, to provide a high-level of graphics performance.

XFX has certainly took its time in designing the new motherboard, but that could also mean, of course, that users are to expect a higher quality of build. The board itself comes to provide support for Intel's Core i7 processors and the latest PCI-Express graphics cards on the market, coming from either AMD or NVIDIA. Thanks to the features of Intel's X58 chipset, the board presents users with a number of choices in terms of performance upgrade. Aside from supporting NVIDIA's triple-SLI technology, the new mobo can also support ATI's CrossFireX.

As with other Core i7-supporting mobos that have been launched recently, the XFX X58i motherboard can be equipped with a maximum of 12GB of DDR3 memory, offering support for Triple-Channel memory. The six, on-board memory DIMMs can deliver up to 32.1GB/s of bandwidth, enabling a level of performance mostly required by technology enthusiasts and high-end users.

Additional features include a Silent Heatpipe Cooling Technology, PCI Express 2.0, Dual BIOS, and Premium 8-Channel High Definition Audio (HDA). All in all, the X58i comes as a nice alternative to other mobos on the market that can support Intel's highest-performance desktop processors to date. Unfortunately, if you want to know how much you will need to spend in order to build a PC based on the X58i, you have to wait until the motherboard becomes available in shops, as the price tag has not been unveiled yet.
