Still there are some problems with Skyrim, and the AMD team is working hard to have them fixed. Again, Andrew D. notes: "Please note that Skyrim CF can't be resolved through a CAP update - needs a driver fix - trying to get this resolved ASAP."

At Three UK, the Cyan flavor of Nokia Lumia 800 is available in stores today, bringing more color to user’s lives.

“Christmas has come early! The #Nokia Lumia 800 is now available on Three in Cyan. Check it out in your local 3Store,” the wireless carrier announced via Twitter.

The specifications list of the mobile phone remained unchanged from the original black version, and the price is said to have been left the same as well. So far, however, Three UK has not listed the new device flavor on its website.

The Nokia Lumia 800 in Cyan comes with a 1.4GHz single-core application processor inside, along with a 3.7-inch curved AMOLED touchscreen display, and a high-resolution 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities and Carl Zeiss optics.

The mobile phone also packs HSDPA and WiFi connectivity options, as well as Bluetooth and GPS receiver, and 16 GB of internal memory.

It is based on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system and packs a series of applications and services specifically designed by Nokia for its handsets, including Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, or Nokia Music.

A Linux kernel security vulnerability was recently discovered in the Linux kernel, affecting all the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system.

Vasiliy Kulikov discovered CVE-2011-2494, a Linux kernel vulnerability that allows a local attacker to read various information on the system, leading to loss of privacy, because taskstats didn't enforce access restrictions.

This security flaw can be fixed if you update your Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) system to the linux-image-3.0.0-13 (3.0.0-13.22) kernel package. Run the Software Update app to do that and don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change, the kernel packages have a new version number, which will force you to reinstall and recompile all third-party kernel modules you might have installed. Moreover, if you use the linux-restricted-modules package, you have to update it as well to get modules which work with the new Linux kernel version.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has opened a huge exhibit entirely dedicated to the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, who passed away last month after resigning from his CEO position with the Cupertino, California computer company.

Hosted at the UPSTO’s Alexandria, Virginia museum in the atrium of the Madison Building headquarters, the free Steve Jobs exhibit features 30 giant panels shaped like iPhones that display the front pages of patent and trademark filings with Steve Jobs' name on them.

Jobs is named as inventor and co-inventor in around 300 patent applications that Apple has filed with the UPSTO over the years.

According to the office, “The display gives insight into the visionary commitment Jobs gave to each of the products and designs he influenced during his time with Apple, the company he co-founded at the age of 21 with his friend and fellow computer enthusiast Steve Wozniak.”

A few of the panels also bear photos of the iconic visionary, and brief descriptions of the man’s achievements during his lifetime.

“This exhibit commemorates the far-reaching impact of Steve Jobs’ entrepreneurship and innovation on our daily lives,” said Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO David Kappos. “His patents and trademarks provide a striking example of the importance intellectual property plays in the global marketplace.”

Created and designed by Invent Now, Inc., the non-profit organization dedicated to fostering invention and creativity through various programs, the Jobs exhibit runs through January 15, 2012 and is totally free to the public.

Those interested in paying a visit will also be glad to learn that the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum is also open to the public for free.

Located at 600 Dulany Street in Alexandria, the museum welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 12 to 5pm. The museum is closed Sundays and on Federal holidays, according to the UPSTO.

Ice Cream Sandwich Is the Last Android Flavor to Taste Flash

Before the end of the ongoing year, Adobe will push out a new flavor of Flash Player for devices running under Google's Android operating system, so as to deliver the software to the new Ice Cream Sandwich platform release as well.

Android 4.0 does not come with Flash right from the start, but will get a taste of it in the near future, Adobe reportedly confirmed.

Moreover, the company announced that Ice Cream Sandwich is the last version of Android to get a taste of Flash.

“Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit - both expected to be released before the end of this year,” the company said, according to Pocket-lint.

From that point onwards, however, Adobe will discontinue development of Flash for mobile devices, though the company will keep on providing bug fixes and security updates for it.

Basically, this means that Android 5.0, or whichever new flavor of the mobile OS is launched in the future, will not get a taste of Flash.

“After that time, Adobe will continue to provide critical bug fixes and security updates,” the company explained.

All that is known at the moment on upcoming Android 5.0 platform is the fact that it should be called Jelly Bean (following the pattern that Google chose with existing OS versions), though chances are that the company might announce more on it sometime in mid-2012.

While the lack of Flash might seem like a deal breaker for some, the experience users receive from their devices might not be altered in the bad way after all, especially considering the wide adoption that HTML5 has seen in the mobile space.

Adobe, however, will remain committed to the development of AIR for mobile devices, offering developers an important environment for building applications, and will also continue to develop Flash for desktop computers.

Apple Sinks $1 Billion in iPhone 5 LTE, iPad 3, iTV - Report

Fortune’s Philip Elmer-Dewitt did, and he points out to the key findings of Peter Misek on his trip to Japan as of late.

Misek’s "key takeaway" was not that Apple is making an iTV, or that the iPhone 5 is coming with LTE networking, or even that the iPad 3 will have a Retina display (all of which has been rumored for a while already).

It was actually the fact that Apple has poured as much as 1 billion dollars into a new panel supplier (Sharp), complete with new screen technologies and building hardware, in order to muffle any competitor’s attempts to… well, compete.

In an attempt to eliminate any potential misinterpretation of Misek’s research note, the Forbes report quotes the analyst’s note without paraphrasing or taking sentences out of context.

One key bullet reads: “We believe Apple has shifted display production and that Sharp has now become a large panel supplier, based on our checks. We believe that the Gen 6 Kameyama facility has been exclusively taken over for Apple purposes with Apple purchasing $500M to $1B of equipment for the manufacturing of iPad 3 and iPhone 5 LTE displays.”

Another highlight - Misek’s firm believes the iPad 3 display has been in production for weeks, and it’s “the cause of much of the noise in the supply chain.” Other key notes from Misek’s paper include:

· We believe that Apple may use this facility for the vast majority of the iPad 3 displays.

· For the iPhone 5 LTE we also believe this new facility will be used to supply displays.

· Even after the iPad 3 launch, we believe Apple will continue to produce the iPad 2 and will lower the price by $100 to $200.

· ...we believe that Apple and Sharp will jointly develop OLED panels for use in iPhone and iPad within the next 1 to 2 years.

· Based on our checks we believe OLED is only slated for small and mid-sized panels (i.e., iPad, iPhone). iTV is unlikely to receive OLED treatment until 2015.

Research firm ChangeWave has issued the results of a new analysis according to which the new Amazon Kindle Fire is going to “leapfrog the competition and become the number two product in the tablet market.” The only requirement: “as long as the Kindle Fire can provide a quality user experience.”

Well of course that’s what it needs to do if it plans to beat other tablets! Jeesh… Talk about paying experts to do your thinking for you.

So, anyway, ChangeWave begins its plea by acknowledging that “Apple continues to show enormous strength in the tablet market, where it’s enjoying the best quarter in its history.”

Their survey, conducted on 3,043 North American consumers, reveals that two-out-of-every-three future buyers plan on purchasing an Apple iPad (65%).

“…for the first time since the launch of the original model, there is a double-digit contender for the number two spot,” says the company. “Better than one-in-five planned purchasers (22%) say they’ll buy a Kindle Fire.”

But it’s not Apple who must fear the Kindle Fire. It’s the rest of the pack that’s also trying to grab a slice of the pie as Apple retains its rock-solid lion’s share.

ChangeWave specifically states that Amazon’s 7-inch tablet will first take its toll on manufacturers like Motorola, RIM, Dell, HTC, H-P and Toshiba, “where the survey shows it wreaking a devastating blow.”

The company makes a very important note in saying that no tablet manufacturer, with the exception of Samsung (think Galaxy Tab), is enjoying more than 1% of future tablet demand among consumers.

Therefore, the Kindle Fire must provide the aforementioned “quality user experience” to make sure these figures don’t change much as it plays catch with Apple’s iPad line.

It’s a no brainer, but it’s not very easy to achieve, especially with Apple getting a year’s head start (probably more, considering that many competitors are still struggling to match the capabilities of the original iPad).

The venerable Nexus One handset is about to get the latest Android 2.3.6 update far ahead other modern smartphones.

In fact, Nexus One is the second smartphone to receive this update, after Google pushed Android 2.3.6 to all Nexus S devices about month ago.

Unfortunately, Nexus S owners who updated to Android 2.3.6 reported several issues with the phone's Wi-Fi and USB tethering capabilities.

It is also worth mentioning that Sprint already delivered the Android 2.3.7 update to Nexus S 4G devices, last month.

Even though we strongly recommend Nexus One users to wait for the update to be pushed OTA (over the air), those who do not want wait until Google decides to deploy Android 2.3.6 upgrade can install the update manually following a simple step by step procedure.

First, make sure you have a microSD memory card that you can use in order to update the Google Nexus One smartphone.

Android 2.3.6 update is available for download from here (d323ca384aaa.signed-passion-GRK39F-from-GRJ22.d323ca38.zip).

After you download the file on the PC, simply rename it to update.zip and copy the file onto the microSD card.

You will need to power off the Nexus One, and turn it on again by holding down the trackball and pressing the power button.

As soon as a white screen appears on the display, you will be able to select the “Bootloader” option. Choose “Recovery” on the next screen and the Nexus One will reboot.

Make sure you press the power button and volume up button at the same time. Then you will be able to select the “Apply sdcard:update.zip” option using the trackball.

It will take about 5 minutes to apply the update, after which the phone will reboot itself and you will be able to use it again.

Although Google has yet to issue the update's change log, it appears that Android 2.3.6 for Nexus One brings important bug fixes and security patches.

As for the entire “iTunes in the Cloud” service, it syncs all the music, apps, and books you purchase automatically with all your devices. Customers can also opt to download only the stuff they want to just the devices they want.

iTunes 10.5.1 is a free software update for both Mac and Windows users who subscribe to iCloud.
