Pod2g Needs You to Vote - Release JB Now, or Wait for iOS 6
Pod2g is asking his followers to cast their vote and answer the following question: “Shall we hold off the jailbreak for iOS 6?”

A few days ago, the internationally-known hacker going by the Twitter handle @Pod2g said in a tweet that he was not rushing his jailbreak out. iDevice owners desperately want the hack, but Pod2g (and fellow hackers) will have to work double duty when iOS 6 comes out.

So he’s trying to assess just how badly people want his latest exploits implemented in Greenpois0n (Absinthe), Corona, Redsn0w, PwnageTool, and all the other jailbreak solutions you can think of. The poll can be found here.

For the “release” option, Pod2g notes that if he was to publish his jailbreak now, he would burn a total of 5 exploits. Those who believe iOS 6 is going to be a challenge can vote the opposite and keep the exploits untouched by Apple. There’s also a third option in the poll “Where's my bottle of beer?” for those who can’t make up their mind.  

At the time of this writing, there were 3675 (57%) votes in favor of the release, 2516 (39%) against it, and 201 (3%) were undecided. Users can change their vote at any time.

Naturally, fellow hacker Grant Paul (@chpwn on Twitter) agrees with Pod2g that burning five exploits with this jailbreak is not the way to go. Apple will patch all of them in iOS 6, and the hackers will need to start from scratch to jailbreak again.

“@pod2g Holding off has never once worked before, so I'll go with ‘no’. Luckily, that's also what most people will choose,” Grant Paul wrote on Twitter. Pod2g immediately replied saying, “@chpwn hey. Your vote counts for 10,000.”

The only jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1 and A5 processors is currently tethered, meaning the user needs to jailbreak again when his / her device reboots. Pod2g and his hacking friends are looking to release an “untethered” jailbreak solution, and one that works well on the newest A5X processors too.
